Does Cypress mulch help stop termites?

Here is visual evidence that cypress mulch is actually desirable for termites. In fact……they ate through the plastic bag to get to it!!!

Cypress Mulch front Here is a bag of Red Cypress Chip Mulch with the “Termite Resistant’ symbol on it as we have all seen before.

After this bag was put on the ground for only 1 weekCypress Mulch back, termites have eaten through the plastic and have eaten the cypress mulch in several sections.

Well, there goes that ole wives tale and how about the false sense of security for home owners!!!

I need to thank my dear Dad for the pictures. He is a highly reputable inspector who has taught my brothers and I to never be complacent when dealing with these damaging yet fascinating creatures. So when we conduct our termite inspections, we will even look under your bag of cypress mulch 🙂

If a thorough inspection or real  termite  protection is what your  home  deserves, just contact us here at Conquer Termites Gold Coast on 0459 166 396 for truely professional and friendly advice.6485

Funnel ant problem now has a solution!!!

Recently throughout the Gold Coast hinterland of mainly Tallebudgera and Currumbin Valleys, there has been an inundation of funnel ants!

These ants cause unstable terrain (easy to roll an ankle or for a horse to ascertain more serious injuries). Following this, theses funnel ants cause an unsightly appearance to the groomed grounds, mower blades are forever needing to be sharpened and the dust clouds whilst mowing makes the job even more UN-enjoyable.

Finally, through our independent research and product support network……..we have found the solution to funnel ants on the Gold Coast!!!

IMG_3338

RIMG2868With our knowledge of industry leading products on the market and having accreditation on how to apply them correctly, gives all parties confidence and genuine sense of a “job well done”.

RIMG2848

RIMG2864Whilst we conduct a funnel ant treatment on your property, we are determined to cover all areas of grounds with a measured and calculated understanding of your grounds. After a full funnel ant treatment is completed by our firm, the reality is….you are highly unlikely to see a funnel on your property for the next 6 months which is covered under our company warranty.

Following this 6 month warranty period, whilst our treatment has likely brought numbers down to as close to zero as possible, the reality is that the odd spot may appear.

It’s okay, simply call us out for only a very small fee to treat the few mounds. Your happiness is our commitment.

Many properties don’t have an ant mound again on their property for 12-24 months, how’s that for real results!!!

RIMG2872If you want your manicured grounds un-invaded by funnel ants, just give us a call for a free quote on 0459 166 396 or email us and let’s win the war against funnel ants 🙂Conquer-termites-team-photo

New special termite detection tool here at Conquer Termites

RIMG1180In addition to our magnificent hi-resolution thermal cameras, we have recently purchased the only purpose built termite detection device in the world – The new Termatrac T3i.

RIMG2691RIMG2693

This is a hand held radar device that detects movement both in and through walls which can easily detect the presents of active termites.RIMG2703

The device is put against a wall or any exposed timber. It then fires microwaves into the wall and sends the detected information via bluetooth to an app on the tablet pad.RIMG2694RIMG2695

It also comes with an extendable tripod for those high places and/or to eliminate detected movement that may be caused by the hand of the technician holding it.RIMG2698

Like any tool, you need to really know how to use it correctly and in this case, how to interpret the results. So, we have become certified technicians after attending the T3i Training Program.RIMG2704

Investing in the best termite inspection equipment and training available is always appreciated by our forever growing list of satisfied clients.

If you would like real piece of mind that your next termite inspection is conducted in the most professional manner by technicians that are friendly, ethical and always willing to go the extra mile, just contact us at Conquer Termites Gold Coast on 0459 166 396 or send through an email.

We look forward to turning your inspection into a true investigation 🙂Conquer-Termites-Slider

Safety first for termite treatment – Robina

We respect safety measures and put them into practice as part of our work ethic here at Conquer Termites Gold Coast. RIMG2643

RIMG2644Here is an example of when one our large hoses needed to be drawn across a footpath which created a tripping hazard.

We set up 4 safety cones (witches hats) and placed a stepping mat over the hose to create a small ramp instead of the tripping hazard.

We are equipped with Construction Safety cards as issued by Qld government to ensure that work conducted around your home is always conducted in a safe manner.David's White-card - white background

If this is the kind of professionalism that you would like conducted at your home, please contact us on 0459 166 396 or email us to arrange a termite inspection, treatment or even if you have any questions 🙂 _MG_9610

A well presented home deserves professional termite attention

Is your well presented home requiring termite treatment conducted with true professionalism?

Recently, we were asked to provide a practical solution for termite protection at yet another beautiful canal front home in Clear Island Waters – Gold Coast.

Our customers decision was to have a termite chemical treatment done beneath the tiles surrounding their home. The reality was that hammer drilling directly through tiles will give an inconsistent finish which would not go along with the beautiful presentation of their home.RIMG2424

Welcome to the painstakingly impressive presentation of – diamond cutting.

RIMG2425RIMG2426RIMG2423

This is a core hole drilled through the tile to minimize inconsistent damage to tiles. After this, a smaller hammer drill hole is drilled through the concrete slab so that our liquid chemical can be installed to stop and prevent termite infestations.RIMG2437

RIMG2438

See here the injection process to protect the home from termites.

RIMG2544RIMG2545After the injection process, we then clean the area off and add a colored oxide to try and blend into the surrounding tiles.

We never claim that holes will be invisible but if we make a particular effort such as this, then the treatment will not stick out like a sore thumb but can be recognized if you are looking for it.

If this is the quality of workmanship that you would like conducted at your home, then please just give us call on 0459 166 396 or contact us to ask for our professional advise on the best practical treatment options for your home and the final finish that it deserves 🙂David-Bell-Slider

Thermal camera images of termites – Gold Coast

Thermal imaging inspections for termites with our brilliant hi-resolution thermal cameras commonly find termite nests inside Gold Coast homes.

The dark discoloration is due to excessive moisture brought into the house by termites as they need to operate in a moist environment in order for them to survive. These are known as “subterranean termites” which are the most problematic ones for home owners here on the Gold Coast.

FLIR0261FLIR0262

These findings were explained to the home owners and they decided to go ahead with our recommended Termidor foam application. Termidor continues to be our industry leading termiticide (chemical) and as always, we return to see the results of our application.

FLIR0360FLIR0359Clearly the Thermal Image this time shows that all of the moisture was unable to be maintained by the termites due to the colony control of the Termidor Foam and this portion of the termite colony is now currently under control.

Now, to stop them returning, a full external perimeter treatment with the liquid Termidor termiticide (lasts 8 years) needs to be installed which will give confidence to both the home owners and ourselves that this will not be an ongoing issue.

We here at Conquer Termites Gold Coast are passionate about being proactive in regards to our customers and their termite concerns.

If you would like real piece of mind that termites have not created an undetected way into the walls of your home, just give us a call on 0459 166 396 or email us for an inspection with one of our hi-resolution Thermal Imaging cameras and – really see want you normally can’t!

True professionals and all round honest and nice guys 🙂 Conquer Termites – yeah!!! 🙂

How do I know if I have termites? – Gold Coast

The problematic termites that affect homes throughout S/E Queensland gain concealed entry so that are not found and can continue to feed and survive.

They commonly gain entry into brick homes (which have a timber wall & roof frames) in small cracks in the mortar of the bricks which are embedded beneath the ground. Dave 17 July 2013 025

This can only be seen once a trench has been dug around the full external perimeter of the home. Some think that the only way in is via the weep holes, this is rarely the case because termites would have to show themselves to gain entry (risking their lives).

“Checking your weep holes” is almost a complete waste of time.

Once inside, termites eat wood from the inside – out, which is rarely seen with just the naked eye. So often a piece of wood can look like this:-

but actually looks like this on the inside:-

Finding areas for termites in S/E Qld

Recently on a Pre-purchase inspection in S/E Queensland, a home with a sub-floor had a few areas which could not be inspected due to – no access.

Following our recommendations here at Conquer Termites, we have since made access into the areas which need to be inspected for not only now, but for future termite inspections.

RIMG1936RIMG1937

We recommend that access to these areas should always be accessible.  Now that access has been made, we can actually see if any subterranean termite concerns are evident and that any termite entry in the future will now be visual early.RIMG1938

A second area which could not be accessed was also present.RIMG1939

So with permission of the owner, I cut out these obstructing boards which were not of any structural importanceRIMG1940. There were a few loose timbers that needed removal and now we have great access and an early visual reference if ever there is a termite concern at out newest of properties.RIMG1941

No job is ever too hard for us here at Conquer Termites. Just a quick call to discuss your personal situation is all that is needed to start a realistic treatment plan for your property.

We provide realistic solutions for home owners we and are always happy to assess and provide a practical treatment plans for properties. Every home is just a little bit different and that’s why we provide a personalized plan for our respected clients.Conquer-termites-team-photo
