As a rule of thumb for us professionals, if you can install a quality liquid chemical treatment where it needs to be applied, this is generally our best advice for a structure. Although, in some circumstances, it may not either be possible and/or practical for a chemical treatment to be applied in areas that are required. Therefore, a termite baiting and monitoring plan is a great alternative.
Ok, for example – this industrial building has a zero boundary to a council “green zone”. This building has quite a significant amount of termite activity in particular areas and is not possible (due to council restrictions) to apply a full external perimeter treatment around the building.
Following the initial bait installation, regular visits are required to see if termites are feeding on the bait.
This approach is an attempt to eliminate a termite colony which may not necessarily be on the property of concern. By having a significant amount of termites feeding on this bait is a genuine attempt of trying to get them to “take it back to the nest”.
If we can infect a significant amount of termites in proportion to this nest, than the chance of eliminating the colony is high.
*Please remember that their is no future termite protection for the property even if is evident that the current termite colony of concern has been eliminated. New nests may produce and their is no chemical treatment to prevent a potential termite attack from a new colony.
As each assessment and approach of a structure and it’s circumstances should be customized, it is a great feeling that we have a large ammunition of weapons in our defence for your property.
