What is the right chemical? …….What is the right treatment?
When homeowners start to seek information about what is the best way to protect their home from termites (White Ants), they are faced with a wall of conflicting advise, recommendations and to add to the confusion, the prices they receive from different companies vary significantly.
Conquer Termites believe that if you are given the right information and options, and it is explained in a language that you’ll understand, you’ll be confident that you have made the right decision. We promise to assess your home adequately so that we can offer a Treatment Program that is specifically designed to suit your needs, and protect your most valuable investment … Your home.
Soil Chemical Treat Zones (Barriers) – External perimeter and sub floor treatments.
A lot of people still refer to these types of treatments as “Barriers”. We no longer call these treatments barriers, as technically, they are Treated Zones. As a result of environmental concerns, Organochlorin’s were banned in 1995. These days we have far better options with Termiticide that offers real long- term control, with a fast kill rate and low toxicity to humans and pets. Now the homeowner has choices of non-repellent type chemical with Termidor, Premise and recently, Altriset. David and his team will let you know which one suites your needs best.
Termidor – Transfer poison
Conquer Termites believe that the new generation of ”Transfer Poisons”are a far more effective method in protecting your home. This is especially true when applying the treatment to an existing structure. As License Recommended Applicators of the most effective transfer poison, Termidor , you can be assured that your job will be done to the highest standards. A recent exciting development with Termidor is that the manufacture, BASF, is introducing a 2 Million Dollar Assurance Warranty that any homeowner can make application for once their home has been treated. All our technicians are Accredited Termidor applicators so you can benefit from this warranty and have the reassurance the manufacture backs up their product, unlike any other. The latest chemical released by Syngenta to protect of Australian homes is Altriset® , with the active ingredient Chlorantraniliprole. It was was formulated based on a naturally occurring compound found in the bark of a South American plant, Ryania speciosa, stops termite damage by targeting termite muscles and paralyzing them – they cease feeding within hours and stop damaging your home, the termites stay alive long enough to transfer Altriset onto other termites and back to the nest resulting in colony control.
Altriset is the safest termite treatment on the market, so safe that it is exempt from poison scheduling by the Australian regulatory authorities which means your pest manager doesn’t have to wear protective gear when mixing and applying the product. See the graph opposite to see how it compares – higher value means lower toxicity.
As certified installers of the patented Altis reticulation system, Conquer Termite can offer you the option of having a system installed around your home that can be replenished at any time. When it is time to re-new the chemical we only have to connect our hose to the feeder pot and pump new chemical around the house.
|Due to the Altis unique perforated plastic membrane and special emitters, the chemical is guaranteed to flow out evenly ensuring that there is continuous chemical treatment at the base of your home. No need to dig up the garden or drill new holes again.|

Topical Treatments – Specific areas with active termites
If you have just found live termites in your house, in a tree stump, or in a retaining wall, and there are still good numbers of the critters, then David and his team will recommend to apply an initial treatment. The purpose of this treatment or baiting program is to stop them clewing your house and if possible to eradicate the termite colony. We need to do this before installing a chemical treatment around the house.
We call it a “topical” treatment as it is applied to a certain area. Depending on the type of termite and the area of infestation we will use one of three approaches.
- Foam treatment using Termidor.
- Foam treatment using Premise.
- Dusting treatment using Termidor dust.
- Baiting program using Above-ground bait stations.
A effective method of treating live termites in a structure is to apply Termidor as a topical treatment by injecting it in a foam matrix directly into the affected timbers. All our Technicians have a special foaming machine that allows the right amount to be applied to the appropriate areas. The direct application to live termites ensure rapid mortality. But there is another advantage of using Termidor as a foam application. Once the foam drys it stays as a non-detectable poison. If any new termites were to come back into the treated area, they too would pick up the active ingredient and it would continue to be passed through the colony.
Termidor dust is a new dusting formulation. It is basically the Termidor compound in a dust form. Once we have established the extent of the infestation we will drill small holes into the termite workings and gently apply it by hand puffing the Termidor dust. Once it has been applied into their workings, the termites carry the dust particles on their bodies and eventually back to the nest (where ever that may be). Being a very social and efficient insect it doesn’t take long for the active ingredient “fipronil” to be transferred throughout the colony.
The wonderful thing about Termidor dust is that it’s very safe to apply into domestic environments and has been proven to take as little as 2 to 4 weeks to eradicate a colony. We are finding that Termidor dust is very successful on the two prevalent types of termites in Brisbane.

||This is non-repellent foam that is applied from a can into termite workings. The active ingredient, Imidacloprid, is a transfer poison that the termites don’t detect. They come in contact with the foam residual and readily transfer it back to the foraging nest. It is a very safe and effective chemical with no major drawbacks|
Above Ground Bait Station – Sentricon – Exterra
In some situations we might recommend to install an Above Ground bait station directly onto an area with live termites. This allows the termites to feed on the highly desirable bait that is laced with a IG agent (growth inhibitor). The termites have no idea that the bait has poison and take it straight back to the nest to feed the colony.
We normally recommend this course of action when are concerned the structure can’t adequately be treated with a chemical treatment zone on the outside and we really want to be sure that the colony that is infesting the house is eliminated. The baiting program can take months to be completed but we can measure the amount of bait taken and gain some tangible outcomes. www.sentricon.com
